MENA Google Spokesperson, Maha Abouelenein, Head of Global Communications and Public Affairs announced that Google's Executive Chairman visited Tunisia today and held a series of bilateral meetings. Eric Schmidt issued the following statement following his visit.
It's exciting to visit Tunisia at this historic time. Today, I met with the newly elected leaders and members of civil society from the local community. We discussed how the Internet and open access to information create a transparent political environment and bolster civic engagement. We also talked about how the Internet helps small and medium businesses innovate and become part of the global economy.
